With the sun drifting ever lower in the sky and the brilliant colors of fall a pleasant memory, the 2018 season for the Gross Reservoir Expansion’s Public Information Yurt has come to a successful finish. It was a great year marked by constructive two-way conversations, relationships built, and stakeholder input gathered that feeds our continued planning with the goal of minimizing community inconvenience.

As has become tradition, we kicked off and closed the season with community cookouts which drew many guests. All told, we visited with more than 600 individuals this summer about the project and discussed potential impacts to the reservoir and community. We also conducted direct outreach to recreators through stations at the Osprey Point boat launch as well as the North Shore. These stations allowed project representatives to discuss the impacts to recreation and inform visitors about continued access for boating, fishing, hiking, and picnicking during construction.

Thanks to all who stopped by for conversation, information and refreshments during the 2018 season. While closed until spring 2019, we continue our weekly presence at Coal Creek Coffee and encourage you to check our project website for details on days and times.
