In September, Kiewit Barnard will test the onsite crusher and batch plants that will make the concrete used to raise the dam. This includes quarrying rock, crushing rock and batching concrete – the process of mixing materials. Then, the concrete will be placed on a test structure near Osprey Point. This trial will allow Kiewit Barnard to fine-tune the operation before concrete placements to raise the dam beginning in 2024.

In April and May 2023, Denver Water worked with a third-party consultant to perform one-on-one interviews with residents on the west side of Gross Reservoir who are likely to be affected by tree removal activities, set to begin in 2025. The interviews offered residents an opportunity to share ideas, concerns and suggestions about tree removal timing, safety and other related issues.
